Producer and composer Quincy Jones has died. He was 91 years old.
The cause of the producer’s death is not stated, but it is noted that he died last night surrounded by his family.
Jones is the producer of Michael Jackson’s best-selling music album, Thriller. He also worked with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Dinah Washington and performed with Duke Ellington.
Quincy Jones ranks third behind Beyoncé and Jay-Z for the most Grammy nominations of all time, with 80 to 88 each.
He was also a successful composer of scores for dozens of films and had numerous hits to his name. Jones was the leader of a big band jazz orchestra and an arranger for jazz stars including Count Basie. His television and film production company, founded in 1990, had great success with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and other shows.
Even into his 80s, Jones never stopped working. So, in 2017, he launched Qwest TV – custom music television.
