US presidential candidate Donald Trump may declare victory early, as he did in 2020. In this case, the Democrats have prepared a response, Reuters reported on Friday, November 1.
Trump recently told reporters that he hopes to declare victory on Election Day. At the same time, experts warn that the final result may be known within a few days, especially if there are demands for a recount in some key regions.
“We’re prepared, unfortunately, if he does, and if we know that he’s really manipulating the press and trying to manipulate the consensus of the American people… we’re prepared to respond,” Harris said in an interview with ABC on Wednesday
He did not provide any details of the Democrats’ plan. But six Democratic officials and the Harris campaign said the first resistance to any claim of an early Trump victory would be in the court of public opinion. They plan to fill social media and the airwaves with demands that all votes be counted before victory is declared.
“As soon as he (Trump) falsely declares victory, we are ready to go on television and tell the truth and reach a wide network of people who can use their influence to fight back,” a Democratic National Committee official told an interview.
A senior Harris campaign official said in a conference call with reporters Friday that they “absolutely expect” Trump to falsely claim victory late Tuesday, Nov. 5, before all votes are fully counted.
