The Pentagon and American intelligence believe that now the main problem of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not the lack of ammunition, but the lack of soldiers.

Ukraine’s main problem in the war with Russia at this stage is the lack of soldiers. According to American military and intelligence officials, there will be enough people for only six, maximum 12 months of war. The New York Times writes about it on Friday, November 1.

“The Ukrainian army is struggling to recruit soldiers and provide new units. The number of its soldiers killed in combat is about 57,000. This is half the number of Russian losses, but still significant for a smaller country,” the publication notes.

But officials and other experts say Russian troop and supply shortages have also worsened. And his victories in war came at a great cost.

The publication’s sources believe that if US support for Ukraine remains strong until next summer, Kyiv may have an opportunity to exploit weaknesses and expected shortages of soldiers and tanks in Russia.

At the same time, the publication recalled that in the summer, US analysts argued that Russia is unlikely to achieve significant success in Ukraine in the coming months. But this assessment turned out to be wrong. Thus, Russia gained more territory in Ukraine in October than in any other month in the past two years and recovered more than a third of the territory captured by Ukrainian forces in the surprise offensive in the Kursk region.

Some US intelligence agencies and military officials are pessimistic about Ukraine’s ability to stop a Russian offensive.

The publication notes that at the beginning of this year, Ukrainian troops experienced a shortage of ammunition due to the delay in aid from the United States. But now the supply of weapons is no longer the main disadvantage of Ukraine, says the US military, the biggest drawback of Ukraine now is its troops.

“One official estimates that Ukraine has enough soldiers to fight for another six to 12 months. After that, he said, the country will face a severe shortage of people,” the newspaper wrote.

It also notes that the most important event for Ukraine in the near future will take place not on the battlefield, but in the US elections. After all, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have laid out different visions for the future of American support.

Let’s recall that on Monday, President Vladimir Zelensky criticized the Western partners for their skepticism on the issue of permission for long-term strikes against the backdrop of the DPRK’s participation in the war.
