Georgian Dream claims it has “81 pieces of evidence” against Saakashvili’s United National Movement party and their associates.
Party in power in Georgia Georgian dream accused the opposition of “fraud in the parliamentary elections”, despite declaring victory with more than 50% of the votes. The deputies filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office. This was said by the executive secretary of the party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, as reported by Novosti-Georgia.
Mdinaradze accused Mikheil Saakashvili’s party United National Movement and their accomplices in “stealing the vote” and claiming they have “81 confirmed facts” for the prosecutor’s office.
The ruling party says the opposition has two schemes to “steal votes.” The first is that people who are supporters of the party in power are “tricked” into registering as representatives of the opposition political force in a district far from the registration area and cannot vote themselves.
And the second is allegedly connected to portable ballot boxes. Mdinaradze claims that the alleged opposition representatives somehow got to know the supporters of the party in power and did not ask them to sign opposite their names during the registration, as a result of which the results from such ballot boxes had to be cancelled.
“I appealed to the prosecutor’s office of Georgia with a request to thoroughly investigate these cases,” concluded Mdinaradze.
Georgian opposition parties announced a second protest against the recognition of the results of the parliamentary elections. It will take place next Monday.
