Poland has started building fortifications on the border between Russia and Belarus as part of the large-scale Shield East project. The head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, announced this on the social network X the other day.

“The construction of Shield East has begun!

It is planned that by 2028 Poland will build 700 km of fortifications on the border of Russia and Belarus as part of the large-scale Shield East project. We are talking about detection and warning systems, forward bases, logistics hubs and counter-drone systems. The cost of the project will be 10 billion zlotys (about 2.5 billion dollars).

We remind you that Poland will allocate a record amount for defense in 2025 – 186.6 billion zlotys (about $48 billion).
