The president was urged to prepare to create a government in exile or at least record a video message in case of death.
Before Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine began, Western allies advised President Vladimir Zelensky to record a video of his death. Former Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba spoke about this in the USA-UA project: – Secret files of the White House.
According to him, a few hours before the full-scale invasion began, Kuleba visited the United States. There they prevented him from returning and said that in an optimistic scenario it would be possible to maintain legitimate power only in part of the territory of Ukraine.
“Think three times: you will need to restore Ukrainian independence,” Dmitry Kuleba quoted an unnamed American official as saying.
On his way home, the minister was again approached in Warsaw. Another unnamed official also advised him not to return to Ukraine because “you will be killed there, and Ukraine will need your voice to continue the fight,” Kuleba said.
After the official returned home, “a great friend of Ukraine” wrote to him asking Zelensky to record a video “just in case, let him lie,” Kuleba said.
In addition, at a conference in Munich, US Vice President Kamala Harris, according to Kuleba, advised Zelensky to prepare to create a government in exile and prepare the country for a guerrilla war.
Let’s remember that on Thursday Zelensky said that Ukraine will not give up its constitutional territories, despite the US election results and further support for Ukraine.
