The court rejected the appeal of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate against the Holy Spiritual Monastery of Pochaev Lavra.
The Western Economic Court of Appeal refused to satisfy the appeal of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate and left the complex of buildings of the Holy Spiritual Monastery of Pochaev Lavra in state ownership. This was reported by the press service of the Western Court of Appeal, reports Ukrinform.
So, on October 31, in case No. 921/788/23, the panel of judges decided to accept the rejection of the Pochaev City Council from the appeal and close the proceedings on this complaint and refused to meet the appeal requests of the Pochaev Holy Spirit Monastery of Ternopil Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“The decision of the Economic Court of Ternopil Region dated August 14, 2024 in this case is not changed.
In August, the Economic Court of the Ternopil Region issued a decision in the case on the claim of the Ternopil Municipal Administration, revoking the decision of the executive committee of the Pochaev City Council dated June 30, 2004 “On recognizing the ownership of the complex of buildings of the Pochaev Holy Spirit Monastery.”
Subsequently, the Pochaev City Council and the UOC-MP filed appeals against the court’s decision, which returned the complex of buildings of the Holy Spiritual Monastery to the state.
We remind you that the UOC-MP still continues to use the Pochaev Lavra. The Ministry of Culture wants to return the Pochaev Lavra under state supervision.
Let’s add that last year there were searches in the Pochaev Lavra.
Prior to this, Metropolitan Epifaniy announced in the summer that Kiev Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras will subsequently be transferred to OCU. The Metropolitan has no doubt that Ukrainians will glorify God together in their own language in one church.
