One of the conditions for receiving a tranche of 4 billion euros under the mechanism of the Ukraine Facility this year is the adoption of the law on an agreement to investigate corruption cases by the end of October.

The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on an agreement to investigate corruption cases. Thus, Kyiv fulfilled the conditions for receiving a tranche from the European Union. This is confirmed by information on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

Law No. 12039 was returned to the parliament with the signature of the Ukrainian head of state on October 31. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill in the second reading on October 29.

Now in Ukraine, thanks to the conclusion of an investigation agreement, the court can assign shorter prison terms to corrupt officials than provided by the Criminal Code. The agreement provides for the exposure of accomplices and compensation for damages caused.

The rules do not apply to organizers of criminal schemes. For them, a shorter prison sentence is only possible if they reveal another organizer.

Let’s add that one of the conditions to receive a tranche of 4 billion euros this year is the ratification of an agreement to investigate corruption cases by the end of October. Also, the head of state has to sign it within this period.

We remind you that on August 6, the Council of the EU gave permission to provide Ukraine with a tranche of approximately 4.2 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility program.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the allocation of the next tranche of aid to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility mechanism at the end of 2024.
