North Korea is interested in technologies related to tactical nuclear weapons, the development of North Korean intercontinental ballistic missiles, reconnaissance satellites and nuclear submarines.
South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun believes that the DPRK is likely to ask Moscow for advanced technologies related to nuclear weapons. In exchange, Pyongyang may agree to send its military to Russia. The words of a South Korean official on Wednesday, October 30, CNN reports.
Kim Yong Hyun emphasized that North Korea is likely to request from Russia the transfer of technologies related to tactical nuclear weapons, the development of North Korean intercontinental ballistic missiles, reconnaissance satellites and nuclear submarines.
He also noted that he does not believe that North Korea’s deployment of troops to aid Russia will increase the “possibility of war on the Korean Peninsula,” but that it could lead to “aggravation of security threats on the Korean Peninsula.”
Earlier, South Korean intelligence reported that most North Korean military personnel on Russian territory were under 20 years old, and some were teenagers.
Meanwhile, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN called statements about the transfer of North Korean troops “false information.”
