The corresponding letter was signed by both Republicans and Democrats. Here, the congressmen asked to “give Poland the authority to intercept and neutralize missiles in Ukraine.”
A bipartisan group of US congressmen has asked President Joe Biden to allow Poland to use air defense in Ukraine in self-defense. The Hill reported this on Wednesday, October 30, in relation to the text of the letter, which it has at its disposal.
Members of the US House of Representatives, Republican Joe Wilson and Democrat Steve Cohen, are asking Biden to “give Poland the authority to intercept and neutralize missiles in Ukraine, especially those threatening to attack Polish airspace.”
The request is based on Poland’s desire to use its air defenses in Ukrainian airspace to protect itself from Russian missiles and assist Ukraine in its defense.
“Despite Russia’s continued development of hybrid warfare—violating airspace, attacking critical infrastructure, and attempting to destabilize democratic institutions—we are hesitant to definitively confront these threats this, allowing Russia to wage war against the Alliance with minimal consequences,” Wilson and Cohen wrote.
According to them, in this context, Poland’s request to intercept and destroy missiles in Ukraine “is necessary and urgent as a mechanism to support Ukraine and guarantee the protection of the front line of NATO’s borders.”
It was previously reported that the Polish population supports the shooting of Russian missiles on its territory.
