In addition to buying missiles for Ukrainian fighters, Oslo is co-financing the strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense.
Norway will finance the purchase of weapons for Ukrainian F-16 fighters. This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov after negotiations with his Norwegian counterpart, Bjorn Arild Gramm.
Umerov thanked his leadership for the allocation of a new aid package of 500 million euros, and the decision to transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine this year.
During the meeting, measures to strengthen air defense were also discussed.
“Norway is ready to co-finance the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense and allocate $118.8 million for the purchase of weapon systems and spare parts for Ukrainian F-16s as part of the US Jumpstart initiative,” Umerov said.
The ministers also discussed cooperation in joint procurement and attracting investment in the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
It was previously reported that Norway will provide Ukraine with a new aid package worth 500 million euros. More than half of this amount is military aid.
Also, Norway, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), has provided financial support of $105 million for Ukraine to restore energy infrastructure and create reserve capacities.
