The instrument developed by the EU – the Growth Plan – will ensure that the accession can take place before the end of the next mandate of the European Commission.
Ukraine has a chance to become a member of the European Union by 2029. This is what European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi said.
According to him, this is quite possible, because the EU has created tools to accelerate the accession of Ukraine.
“These instruments are called the Growth Plan, the Ukraine Plan, depending on the country and with the help of this plan, we made it possible… for Ukraine to complete the reforms… and become a member of the EU before the. end of the next mandate of the European Commission,” explained the European Commissioner.
He added that it is now difficult to name specific dates for entry. However, the European Commission mandate lasts for five years and thus expires in 2029.
We remind you that the European Commission recognized that “Ukraine has completed all the steps” specified in the conclusion of the European Commission in 2022 on granting candidate status.
