The head of the State Treasury of the Poltava region, Igor Veriga, together with his wife, declared $62 million in cash inherited from their parents in the form of foreign currency and precious bullion. This is confirmed by the officer’s declaration.
Until 2020, Veriga served as head of the city’s department for citizen appeals. The officer’s wife works in the department for urban planning and architecture of the Poltava City Council.
As Veriga noted, cash receipts are linked to inheritance. The official noted that in 2023 he declared UAH 5.92 million in foreign currency and UAH 3.55 million in bullion received from his mother, Justyna Veriga. While in October, Veriga indicated UAH 56.175 million in foreign currency and UAH 34.5 million in precious metals as an inheritance from his father, Orest Veriga.
Veriga’s total cash savings exceeded $62 million.
Let’s add that in 2023, Veriga was paid monthly about 23 thousand UAH and another almost 22 thousand UAH in salary. At the same time, the official received 16 thousand UAH of charitable assistance from the international organization Red Rose CPS.
In this regard, the local publication of the Poltava region wrote that Igor Veriga is the brother of Poltava businessman Lev Veriga. On the eve of an all-out Russian-Ukrainian war, he left for the Russian Federation with his wife, the daughter of Russian general Valery Kapashin. There they continue to engage in business and pay taxes to the Russian budget.
