Martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine may be extended for three months.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky proposed that the Verkhovna Rada approve the extension of martial law and general mobilization for 90 days. The corresponding bills No. 12151 and 12152 have already been registered in parliament.
Draft Law No. 12151 proposes to approve a presidential decree on the continuation of martial law from November 10, 2024 to February 7, 2025. And project No. 12152 proposes to approve a presidential decree on the continuation of general mobilization.
If accepted, martial law and mobilization would last almost three years after the full-scale Russian invasion.
For the first time, martial law and mobilization in Ukraine for a period of 30 days were approved on February 24, 2022. After this, the terms were constantly extended, first for a month, and from May 2022 – for 90 days.
Let us remind you that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that Western partners are interested in the issue of mobilizing Ukrainians over 18 years of age. The allies are discussing issues of mobilization of young men, but are not putting pressure on Kyiv about lowering the mobilization age.
