The head of NASA Nelson called for an investigation into the communication between the founder of SpaceX and the head of the Kremlin.
The head of the American space agency NASA, Bill Nelson, called for an investigation into possible contacts between SpaceX founder Elon Musk and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. CNN reported it.
The head of NASA expressed concern about possible regular contacts between Musk and Putin. He believes an investigation needs to be conducted.
“If the story that there were multiple conversations between Elon Musk and the Russian president is true, I think it would be a concern, especially for NASA, for the Department of Defense, for some of the agencies of intelligence,” Nelson said.
Some US officials raised counterintelligence concerns last year about Musk’s contacts with Russia. However, intelligence agencies are cautious about these interactions because Musk is an American citizen.
White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said he had seen reports of Musk’s contacts with Putin, but the White House “could not confirm.”
The Pentagon declined to comment on media reports, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Musk and Putin had only one phone conversation, during which they discussed “space, as well as the current and future technologies.”
We remind you that, according to media reports, Musk has been regularly talking to Putin since 2022, including personal topics.
