While monitoring social networks, law enforcement officers discovered a publication that a dead lion was found on the territory of the Kostopil waste disposal plant. “On this fact, information was immediately entered into the Unified Register of Statements and Messages and the verification began immediately,” the message says.
It is noted that the preliminary investigative team established that the animal died as a result of cancer.
The police are checking documents, interviewing plant and zoo personnel in order to establish all the circumstances, the police said.
Earlier, a photo of a dead animal in a landfill appeared on social networks. It is alleged that in addition to the lion, a stork, a monkey and the corpse of another animal were also found dead at the dump.
