The new electronic warfare model may have updated software and be able to jam more frequencies, Bloomberg wrote.
The United States has prepared and will now launch in 2025 a powerful electronic warfare system against Chinese and Russian space satellites. Bloomberg reported this.
L3Harris Technologies Inc.’s system, known as Meadowlands, is a lightweight, mobile version of the counter-communications system that was declared operational in 2020.
However, the new model may have updated software and be able to jam more frequencies. Meadowlands was originally scheduled for delivery in October 2022, and was pushed back due to unknown technical issues. However, it has completed all system-level validation tests and could go live next year.
“The Meadowlands system will have significant upgrades in terms of technical performance and simplified logistics for deployment and support… L3Harris has completed verification testing and the program is ready for implementation early next year,” L3Harris said in a statement.
As we have already written, the US Space Command does not rule out that the satellite launched by Russia is a weapon capable of attacking other satellites in low Earth orbit.
