Language inspectors in Ivano-Frankivsk will not punish the use of the Russian language in the city and are tolerant of encouraging people to speak the state language.
Volunteer first language inspectors will start working in Ivano-Frankivsk on October 28. Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv spoke about this on Thursday, October 24, on the air of the TRC Tower.
According to him, there are approximately 40 language volunteers and many of them are young people.
“I expect it’s mostly older people, but there are a lot of young progressive people.
He stressed that language volunteers will not punish the use of the Russian language, but will promote Ukrainian language courses, distribute leaflets, monitor compliance with the language law, or participate in educational events.
“We thought of a large number of events for the winter season with the participation of writers and theater,” explained Martsinkov.
Earlier, the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk said that public inspectors of the Ukrainian language support program in Ivano-Frankivsk will not punish for the use of the Russian language on the streets and in the city’s institutions.
We would like to remind you that in the first quarter of 2024, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language received 569 appeals from citizens regarding violations of the language law.
