The mobilization of citizens aged 50-60 years is legal and fully complies with the standards of the current law, the TCC assured.
The Volyn TCC confirmed the possibility of conscripting men from 50 to 60 years of age for military service during mobilization. At the same time, the main criteria are health status, military specialty and experience. The press service of the Volyn Regional TCC reported this on Thursday, October 24.
The message mentioned that according to the Law “On Military Duty and Military Service,” those liable for military service are men aged 18 to 60 who may be called up for military service during mobilization.
“And regarding the “sensation” surrounding the news that men aged 50 to 60 years old cannot be mobilized, we note that there is no ban on enlisting citizens in this age category for military service by person of this age, but this document regulates the recruitment procedure for this category of people and, in fact, is intended only for official use,” added the press service.
Currently in Ukraine, citizens over 50 years of age without exemption from military service for health reasons or other legal grounds are subject to mobilization under general conditions.
The TCC noted that during mobilization the main focus is on determining suitability for service based on health conditions, military specialty and experience.
It was previously reported that Ukraine needs to mobilize another 200 thousand recruits by the end of the year, but these plans are unlikely to be implemented.
