A massive drone attack was repelled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the night and morning of October 24.
On the night of October 24, 2024, Russia attacked Ukraine with two Kh-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 aircraft over the Black Sea and two Kh-59 guided missiles from the airspace of the Bryansk region. In addition, 50 attack UAVs of the Shahed type and drones of an unidentified type were launched in the directions of Orel, Kursk and Crimea. The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this on Telegram.
To repel the air attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved.
Defenders of the sky worked in Odessa, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Vinnitsa, Zhitomir, Khmelnytsky, Cherkassy, Kirovograd, Kyiv, Poltava and Chernigov regions. As of 8:30, 40 Russian drones were known to have been shot down.
Another seven Russian UAVs were lost. Two drones turned in the direction of Russia and Belarus. At 9:12, the PS announced that the threat of attack drones had ended. The command also emphasized that the Russian missiles did not reach their targets.
Let us remind you that on the night of October 23, the Russians launched 81 Shahed-type attack UAVs and unidentified drones across Ukraine. Air defense shot down 57 drones in 12 regions.
