Near Selidovo, Donetsk region, the Russian military shot dead four captive soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine. An investigation has been launched. The press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Thursday, October 24.
According to operational data, on October 6, four soldiers of the National Guard carried out service and combat missions in positions in the area of the city of Selidovo. At about 13:00, Russian troops began attacking the fortifications, where they captured the Ukrainian soldiers. Subsequently, representatives of the Russian Army recorded the interrogation of the wounded, unarmed National Guardsmen on video.
The next day, the Defense Forces regained their lost positions and, during the search, discovered the bodies of the killed Ukrainian servicemen.
The Office of the Prosecutor General emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war is a grave violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
A pre-trial criminal investigation was launched into violations of the laws and customs of war, including premeditated murder.
