Ankara considers the Kurdistan Workers’ Party guilty of the terrorist attack that took place the previous day in the Turkish capital and claimed the lives of five people.
Turkey said it had carried out strikes on Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in northern Iraq and northern Syria in response to the terrorist attack in Ankara. The country’s Ministry of National Defense announced this on the evening of Thursday, October 24.
They noted that the operation took place after the attack on October 23 on the building of the aerospace company Turkish Aerospace Industries.
“To stop terrorist attacks on our people and security forces by neutralizing the PKK and other terrorist elements, and to ensure the security of our borders, in accordance with our right to self-defense arising from Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, air strikes were carried out on October 23 strikes against terrorist targets in northern Iraq and northern Syria, and a total of 32 terrorist targets were successfully destroyed,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The military said that during the operations “a large number of terrorists were neutralized” and all precautions were taken to “not cause harm to innocent civilians.”
We remind you that on October 23, a loud explosion was heard near the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries in Ankara. The company manufactures airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that as a result of the attack by armed men on the office building, five people were killed and more than 20 were injured. They said the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is banned in Turkey, was likely involved in the attack.
