Currently, we are talking about a pilot project in which about 500 military personnel are involved, says Evgeniy Mezhevikin.
On the basis of four training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the duration of basic combined arms training (BCT) has been increased from 30 days to 1.5 months. This is what the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Doctrines and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Evgeniy Mezhevikin, said in a briefing on Saturday, October 19.
“One of the important steps taken to increase training and improve the quality of training for military personnel in training centers is to increase the duration of basic combined arms training. For this purpose, a military training program with training period of 1.5 months was developed and approved,” he said.
Mezhevikin emphasized that the increase in the period of military training to 1.5 months is a pilot project that is being implemented based on the four main training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Currently, about 500 military personnel are involved in this experiment.
At the same time, according to him, the BOVP program was updated. It is planned to study the basics of using drones and trench electronic warfare and reconnaissance (EW/ER), strengthen tactical fire training, reconnaissance and sabotage activities and frontline safety skills, especially the safety during cold weather.
Mezhevikin noted that the results of the pilot project will be reviewed in December. After that, they will decide whether to extend this training to other training centers.
Let’s recall that in September, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky announced that a project to increase the duration of basic combined arms training will be launched in October-November.
