In recent months, the number of recruits has dropped by 40%. Currently, about 20 thousand people are studying in more than 25 training centers. The General Staff reported this on October 19.
I think that this is no secret, this figure has decreased somewhat because the number of mobilization resources that goes to training centers has decreased,” Colonel Vasyl Rumak said at a briefing in Ukrinform.
According to him, more than 25 training centers are now operating. And now the General Staff is working to improve the quality of training, in particular, by increasing the training period to 1.5 months and transforming the instructor training system.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces will create an Instructor School as a single educational unit for training instructors.
We are also considering replacing officer teaching positions with sergeant positions. This will increase the authority and prestige of the sergeant corps, noted Colonel Evgeny Mezhevikin.
He emphasized that the School of Instructors will become the only training unit that will train instructors for all the Armed Forces of Ukraine according to the same standards. The School also plans to organize advanced training courses for existing instructors.
In addition, it is necessary to free instructors from performing unusual duties so that they can fully concentrate on training recruits. This involves excluding from their activities economic tasks, support measures and business trips not related to training.
According to Rumak, parts of the training program that are rudimentary or do not meet today’s needs will also be removed.
But instructors will have more time for important programs aimed at preserving the lives of military personnel and their adaptation to modern combat conditions. In particular, this applies to the use of UAVs, trench electronic warfare, topography, etc.,” the officer noted.
Let us note that shortly after the law on mobilization came into force, President Zelensky said that mobilization in Ukraine had increased. And the deputy chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration, Ruslan Gorbenko, said that this year it will be possible to mobilize 120 thousand people.
Meanwhile, MP Roman Kostenko recently stated that the level of mobilization has decreased after several months of the law.
