Russia is ready to end the war against Ukraine, but “only on the basis of the agreements in Istanbul.”
The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, once again said that “Russia is ready to end the war,” but at the same time did not give specific dates. The Russian dictator said this at a meeting with media representatives of BRICS member countries in Moscow, RosSMI reported on Friday, October 18.
According to Putin, he is against “a truce for a week, two or a year” in Ukraine. Allegedly, Russia needs “conditions for lasting peace.” And this could be the so-called Istanbul Agreements (a meeting of representatives of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, which took place in March 2022 – ed.).
“Russia is ready to hold a dialogue on a peaceful end to the conflict in Ukraine, but only on the basis of the Istanbul Agreements,” the Kremlin leader emphasized.
At the same time, Putin said that otherwise Russia is ready to “continue the struggle” and “victory will be ours.”
When asked about the timing of the war against Ukraine, the Russian dictator refused to talk. He advised asking NATO countries “when they are tired of fighting Russia.”
“If we talk about any deadlines, it’s a very difficult thing, and it’s counterproductive,” Putin said.
At the same time, he reiterated that “Russia is interested in ending the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible.”
Let’s remember that Putin called thoughts about the possible creation of nuclear weapons by Ukraine a provocation and said that any step in this direction “includes a response.”
