501 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine.
Based on the results of repatriation measures, it was possible to repatriate 382 bodies of defenders who died in the Avdeevsky direction, 56 fallen soldiers from the Bakhmut direction. They also returned 45 bodies of defenders from the Maryinsky direction. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this on Telegram.
It was also possible to repatriate six bodies of fallen heroes in the Ugledar direction, four fallen soldiers in the Zaporozhye direction, and seven bodies of those killed in the Lugansk direction. In addition, one body was returned from a morgue in Russia.
The fallen heroes were returned thanks to the interaction of employees of the Coordination Headquarters with the joint center of the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Service for Emergency Situations, and other representatives of the defense structures of Ukraine.
The Coordination Headquarters specifically thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross.
It is noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will transport the repatriated bodies and remains to certain government institutions. Law enforcement officials and forensic experts will identify the victims. After identification, the bodies of the defenders will be handed over to their families for burial.
Let us remind you that on August 2, the bodies of 250 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine. It was possible to return the bodies of dead military personnel to their homeland from Luhansk, Bakhmut, Maryinsky, Avdeevsky, Kherson, Zaporozhye directions, as well as from Mariupol, Gorlovka and morgues in Russia.
