NATO allies have confirmed that air defense is a priority for the Alliance.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte responded to the overflights of Russian drones and missiles in Romania during the shelling of Ukraine and called for such incidents not to be left unanswered. He said this at a press conference at a meeting of defense ministers.
According to him, NATO allies have confirmed that air defense is a priority of the Alliance.
“And based on the fact that the military actions carried out by Russia against Ukraine and that led to the violation of the airspace of NATO countries, especially in the airspace of Romania, I would like to say the following: NATO does not agree to unity and therefore calls on the Romanian authorities “We will not leave this incident without a proper response,” Rutte stressed.
We remind you that the Romanian Air Force on the night of Thursday, October 17, scrambled four fighters in the sky after an unidentified flying target crossed the border.
Earlier, on October 4, fragments of a Russian drone, which was used by the Russian Federation to attack Ukraine, were rediscovered in Romania.
