The men sold more than 190 cars for a total amount of about 31.5 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers detained two residents of Smila, Cherkasy region, who were illegally selling SUVs intended for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as humanitarian aid. The attackers sold more than 190 cars. This was reported by the press service of the National Police on Wednesday, October 16.
According to the investigation, the 40 and 32-year-old residents of Smela set up a scheme to import vehicles as humanitarian aid. Despite the ban on the sale of humanitarian aid, which they must transfer free of charge to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, dealers sell cars to civilians for cash. To do this, the “sellers” looked for buyers and also placed advertisements about cars ready for sale on one of the Internet platforms.
Under this scheme, the defendants sold more than 190 cars for a total amount of approximately 31.5 million Hryvnias. The men were detained when they received 15 thousand dollars for the sale of three SUVs of the brands BMW X5, Mercedes ML 270 and VW Touran.
Investigators informed the detainees of the suspicion. In court, the men were given preventive measures: one – 24-hour house arrest, the other – detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 90,840 Hryvnia.
The defendants face up to seven years in prison for holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of assets.
We remind you that the law enforcement officials of Ukraine and Moldova exposed a criminal group whose members, since 2023, “sell” non-existent drones and vehicles on the Internet for personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
