Scholz adheres to important principles – never make decisions without considering Ukraine’s position and without consulting the closest partners.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed his willingness to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of the war. He said this in the Bundestag, speaking on the occasion of the upcoming summit of EU leaders, the Rheinische Post reports on Wednesday, October 16.
In particular, Scholz recalled Ukraine’s agreement to Russia’s participation in the next Peace Summit.
“Therefore, it is also right that when we are asked if we will also talk to the president of Russia, our answer is: “Yes, yes too,” he emphasized.
At the same time, the head of the German government added that he adheres to important principles – never make decisions without taking into account the position of Ukraine and without consulting the closest partners.
Scholz also added that every day countless numbers of Russian soldiers become “victims of the imperialist madness of the Russian president.”
Let’s recall that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a speech to the Bundestag on September 11 that Germany will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia, but is now calling for ways to find a political end to the war.
Earlier, Scholz said that for Ukraine there will be only a just peace and hard work is being done for it.
It was also reported that the United States would help Ukraine strengthen its position ahead of possible negotiations to end the war.
