Andrei Rudenko criticized South Korea for alleged “provocative actions that seriously undermine stability on the peninsula.”
Russia will take “all necessary measures” if an “act of aggression” is carried out against North Korea. The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko said this, Interfax reported on Tuesday, October 15.
“If an act of aggression is carried out against the DPRK, then in accordance with its law, in accordance with the law of the DPRK, all necessary measures will be taken,” he said at a briefing.
Thus, Rudenko answered the question of what Moscow will do if the conflict on the Korean Peninsula escalates, taking into account the “comprehensive strategic partnership” agreement signed in June of this year by the leaders of the Russian Federation and the DPRK .
He was also asked about Pyongyang’s bombing of sections of roads connecting the two Koreas. The Russian official believes that South Korea has taken “provocative actions that have seriously undermined stability on the peninsula and led to an escalation of tensions.”
“And what will happen next, including this, of course, is a very dangerous development of events. And we believe it’s time to stop it,” added Sergei Lavrov’s deputy.
As you know, on October 14, Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a bill on the ratification of the agreement on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” between the Russian Federation and the DPRK. The treaty provides for military and other assistance of all means by one of the countries in the event of an attack on the other.
