In letters in 2021, Hamas Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar wrote to senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, requesting more financial and military aid. He claims that with Iran’s support he will be able to completely destroy Israel within two years.
In Yahya’s letters, Sinwar did not specify how he intended to do this. The document contains dozens of maps, photographs and diagrams showing the movements of Hamas militants and the possible sequence of attacks.
The 70-story Moshe Aviv Tower, the second tallest in Israel, and the Azrieli Center complex, which consists of three skyscrapers, a large shopping center, a train station and a movie theater, were listed as possible targets. However, the document notes, Hamas has not yet figured out how to destroy the buildings.
