The President of the United States will be awarded a special level of the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit during his trip to Germany.
US President Joe Biden plans to make up for his visit to Germany next week, which he previously canceled due to the disaster caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida. This was reported by the German magazine Spiegel on Sunday, October 13.
The media said planning for a high-level visit to Berlin was already underway behind the scenes by the federal government and German security authorities.
On the current calendar, official meetings with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz are scheduled for Friday, October 18.
“Biden’s visit to Berlin is a sort of farewell visit by the president before the upcoming election in early November. Initially planned as an official state visit with an official feast and other honors, the program is now significantly reduced,” said the statement.
The publication added that Steinmeier still plans to award Biden a special degree Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit for services to German-American friendship.
As we wrote earlier, Joe Biden postponed his visit to Germany this week.
