The international community is close to creating an institute that will exclusively deal with Russia’s crimes in the war against Ukraine.
An international tribunal to investigate the crimes of Russian aggression against Ukraine should be created in the near future. This was said by the Minister of Justice of Poland, Adam Bodnar, the PAP agency reported on Friday, October 11.
The official noted that a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine will deal only with this issue, that is, investigate who made the decision on the aggressive war, who led it and who made the decision to attack Ukraine.
The minister emphasized that the international community is approaching the creation of this institution, which will work within the framework of the Council of Europe. He emphasized that Ukraine also wants it.
“So what if someone judges a commander who gave shameful orders in Bucha or Mariupol, if the people responsible for the decision to start the war, like Putin or Shoigu, are not judged?” said Bodnar.
The minister assured that Polish prosecutors are closely cooperating with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, including Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin, who has been investigating Russian crimes since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
As reported, in September, Europe agreed on the general concept of a special court against the Russian Federation.
Let’s remember that in April of this year, 44 countries supported the idea of creating a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression and use of its fixed assets in favor of Ukraine. They signed a corresponding political declaration at the conference “Restoring Justice for Ukraine” held in The Hague.
