This decision was the result of a journalistic investigation that revealed the fact of supplies of low-quality products to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine of the Ministry of Defense contacted the Security Service of Ukraine with an official statement about the possible falsification of accompanying documents by one of the suppliers of food for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The press service of the department reported this on Friday, October 11.
“This decision is the result of a recent investigation by the press, which revealed the fact of providing low-quality food products to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In this regard, the Ministry of Defense began an audit of the activities of the specified that supplier ,” the message said.
According to preliminary inspection data, in August 2024 this contractor supplied sterilized canned meat to one of the military units of the Sumy region pork stew accompanied by documents showing signs of possible forgery. In particular, the package of documents includes a copy of the research protocol, which was canceled in February 2024.
“The Ministry of Defense reaffirms its determination to fight corruption and fraud, which could jeopardize the safety of our military. As such, the Ministry of Defense expects a thorough investigation of the situation,” the department said.
Let us recall that early journalists found that a batch of stewed pork, which was supposed to be supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, turned out to be an inappropriate mixture of skin, tendons and fatty tissue.
The laboratory of the Ministry of Defense approved about 11 thousand of these cans, but an independent analysis showed that the products did not meet the standards.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Defense responded to the scandal with inedible canned food in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
