Sergei Gnezdilov, who publicly announced his resignation from the military unit, was detained by law enforcement officers.
The State Bureau of Investigation detained a serviceman of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade, who left the military unit without permission and reported this through social networks on September 21. And already on September 23, the Donetsk Special Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Eastern region opened desertion proceedings based on publications in the media. The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this.
An internal investigation was ordered in the SZChs brigade. Its results showed that the military man “committed actions containing signs of a criminal offense.”
Law enforcement officers established that in early September the military man was sent to the hospital for a medical examination of the VLK. But he did not undergo examination and was not in a medical institution. After a certain period of time, VLK did not return to his place of duty and for two weeks actually hid from law enforcement officers.
Sergei Gnezdilov himself also wrote about the arrest on his Facebook page.
As is known, for unauthorized leaving of a military unit in Ukraine, punishment is provided, which may include detention in a disciplinary battalion for up to two years or imprisonment for up to three years.
Let us recall that the operational command “West” previously stated that the unauthorized abandonment of Sergei Gnezdilov’s unit would affect the combat effectiveness of the unit.
