One of the first prison sentences for arson against military personnel was handed down in Ukraine.
A woman who set fire to a military vehicle in the Kirovograd region received six years in prison. By order of the Russian special services, she set fire to the official pickup truck of a National Guard employee. She recorded the crime on video, but was detained at the scene. The Security Service of Ukraine reported this on October 9.
The convicted person was a 28-year-old resident of Alexandria, who was looking for easy money in telegram channels. It was there that the Russian special services noticed her.
Themis found the woman guilty under Part 1 of Art. 114-1 (obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
As you know, in Ukraine in 2024, military vehicles began to smoke en masse. Law enforcement officials claim that the Ukrainians are doing this on the orders of the Russian special services, who offer to set fire to cars for money and record it on camera.
Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada has prepared and submitted for registration a bill that will increase liability for arson of military vehicles. Lawmakers propose setting the punishment for arson of military vehicles at 10 to 15 years in prison. Volunteer vehicles will also fall under this category.
