Germany is scheduled to host a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on October 12, which will be held at the leader’s level for the first time.
The Pentagon is considering the possibility of postponing the Ramstein meeting, scheduled to take place in Germany on Saturday, October 12, to another day. Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh announced this on Tuesday, October 8, Voice of America wrote.
He explained that the meeting could be postponed mainly because of Joe Biden.
“Due to Hurricane Milton, President Biden will not be able to travel to Ramstein to participate in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. We are still working out how this will affect the Secretary’s schedule,” he said.
Answering the question of whether they plan to postpone the meeting of the Ukrainian defense group, combine it with the meeting of NATO defense ministers on October 17-18, the Pentagon said that they have not yet made a final decision.
“We are just now figuring this out so when there are updates, I will definitely provide them, the president just canceled his trip this morning. We will inform you when we know more,” said the spokesperson.
Earlier, the press secretary of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, said that Joe Biden postponed his trip to Germany due to Hurricane Milton.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz commented on Biden’s decision to postpone his trip. According to him, he expected the visit to be postponed.
