The militants started building the tunnel about two years ago, and the Israeli military quickly discovered it.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed a tunnel dug by Hezbollah militants on the Lebanese-Israeli border. This was stated by the Israeli publication The Times of Israel in connection with the IDF.
The tunnel has no exit into Israeli territory. It was built near the Lebanese village of Marvahin, opposite the Israeli community of Zarit.
The IDF said construction of the tunnel began about two years ago, and that the Israeli military quickly discovered it and monitored its construction.
The tunnel was found during raids in southern Lebanon a few months ago.
IDF soldiers searched the tunnel and found weapons inside: explosives and anti-tank missiles. No other tunnels leading to Israel from Lebanon have been discovered.
As already written, on October 7, during the attack on the Lebanese capital Beirut, Israel removed a high-ranking commander of Hezbollah.
