The representatives identified, in particular, the climate management architecture in Ukraine, financial instruments for achieving climate goals and considered the goals of the state climate policy in the recovery programs.
On October 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted government bill No. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Environment on Tuesday, October 8.
“In the Law, we have set a goal – to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. We have also identified the climate management architecture of Ukraine, financial instruments for achieving climate goals and taking into account the goals of the state’s climate policy in post-war recovery programs,” said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Grinchuk.
The Minister explained that this document is about:
-
strategic planning and practical measures to achieve climate neutrality;
-
cross-sectorality of climate policy;
-
monitoring actions and measures to implement climate policy;
-
system forecasting in the field of climate change;
-
fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations.
Today the Ukrainian law is even closer to the law of the European Union.
According to the head of the department, this is another argument in the negotiation process that Ukraine is ready to join the EU and fulfills the conditions for receiving financial assistance within the Ukraine Facility.
We would like to remind you that Ukraine previously acceded to two agreements adopted at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.
