Two scientists from the USA and Great Britain received the Nobel Prize in Physics.

    .

The winners in physics were John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton. The prize was awarded to them “for fundamental discoveries and inventions that make machine learning possible using artificial neural networks.” The Nobel Foundation announced this on October 8 on the social network X.

Machine learning based on artificial neural networks is now revolutionizing science, technology and everyday life, the report says.

The Foundation added that machine learning is important for research, sorting and analyzing huge amounts of data.

As you know, prizes in physics have been awarded since 1901.

Let us recall that in 2023 the Nobel Prize winners in physics were scientists Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz and Anne Lhuillier. The award was given to them for “experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light to study the dynamics of electrons in matter.”
