The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus complained that “the active imitation of activities” of extremist groups continues to get new “grants” abroad.
In Belarus, 45 people were involved in criminal charges in cases of extremism. It was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic.
“The criminal plan involved bringing together extremists to coordinate actions during the election campaign in the Republic of Belarus,” the statement said.
The Investigative Committee complained that “the active imitation of the activities” of extremist groups continues to obtain new “grants” abroad.
“This time, representatives of the radical community announced a new initiative – Platform 2025,” reported the Investigative Committee.
It was noted that of the 45 accused, 22 people participated in the activities of the country’s former presidential candidate, currently living abroad, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. Their actions in the Republic of Belarus qualify under Part 1 of Article 357 of the Criminal Code of Belarus.
Another 23 people are considered members of the “extremist formation” “People’s Embassies” and the structural unit of “Belarus Abroad”, as well as participants in street protests.
Earlier, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko pardoned another 37 people convicted of actions related to protests after the 2020 presidential elections.
We remind you that the EU called on Minsk to release all political prisoners. The European Union has stressed that hundreds of people still remain in Belarusian prisons because of their political beliefs and need to be released.
