A sea mine was found off the coast of Bulgaria in the Black Sea. It was liquidated by the military, according to the country’s Ministry of Defense on Friday, July 1st.
It is indicated that a message about a floating mine was received the previous day from the civilian ship Monterrey. A helicopter, minesweeper and auxiliary ship searched for him. The mine was found 27 nautical miles from the mouth of the Kamchia River, which flows into the Black Sea near Varna. It was destroyed by controlled explosions.
Military experts classified the device as a YaM -type anchor mine, located in a combat position.
Remember that there are up to 600 Russian mines in the Black Sea. They periodically break away from anchors and spontaneously drift off the coasts of Ukraine, Turkey and Bulgaria.
It was also reported that in a few days in the Odessa region five mines were brought ashore after the storm.
