The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, promoted the rank of commander of the Kharkiv OTUV.
Zelensky awarded the commander of the Kharkiv OTUV, Mykhailo Drapaty, the rank of major general. This is evidenced by a decree on the presidential website, dated October 5.
Previously, Drapat received the title “Honorary Citizen of the City.” Deputies of the Krivoy Rog City Council at the May plenary meeting in 2024 unanimously made a decision.
From the first days of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression, Mikhail Vasilyevich led the defense of the city of Krivoy Rog. Subsequently, he became Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commander of the Kharkov operational-tactical group of troops.
Drapaty headed this OTU against the backdrop of the advance of Russian troops to the north of the Kharkov region. He was appointed instead of Yuri Galushkin.
The operational-tactical group of troops (OTUV) “Kharkov” is an association of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is part of the operational-strategic group of troops “Khortitsa”. Created during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Parts of the group took part in the Kharkov counter-offensive.
At the beginning of April 2024, General Yuri Galushkin became commander of the OTuv “Kharkov”, replacing Andrei Gritskov.
