The reason for the start of the investigation was the interrogation of Russian prisoners of war, during which a certificate of the commission of this crime was obtained.
Of course, the investigation of such crimes has its own difficulties, especially because of the fighting, which makes access to the scene difficult. However, this case is unique, since the person who may become a suspect in this proceeding is also in Ukrainian captivity, said the head of the regional prosecutor’s office, Alexander Filchakov.

In fact, terrible, strange, wild things happened there in relation to Russian commanders and their subordinates, as Andrey Chernyak, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said in September 2024 about the Ukrainian military intelligence operation to clear the Volchansky Aggregate Plant.
According to Chernyak, the leaders of the Russian occupiers realized the hopelessness of regaining control of the facility, but still forced their soldiers to resist.
According to him, the preparation of the mission to dismiss the plant took several weeks, and the successful clearing of the plant’s buildings by special forces of the Ukrainian military intelligence is important for the further actions of the State Security and Defense Forces.
This was necessary in order to maximally simplify logistics and support for our forces located in this region. In the future, this will allow the Ukrainian Defense Forces to conduct counter-offensive actions and drive the enemy out of Ukrainian soil,” said a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the MOU.
He added that the Russians at the plant suffered serious losses, because the leaders of the occupiers, through violence, actually doomed their soldiers to a senseless death.
In fact, terrible, wild, strange things happened there from Russian commanders to their subordinates. We are talking about deliberate murders, about terror. This is another example when a Russian soldier has no rights and is not considered a human being at all,” Chernyak noted.
