Primary school students will have free meals in educational institutions.
UAH 2 billion was allocated from the budget to provide free meals for students in grades 1-4. The government will transfer this money to local communities in the form of a subvention. Previously, only children on benefits received free meals in schools. The Telegram channel “Government Online” reported this on October 4.
Officials also informed that territorial societies can use these funds to purchase products or pay for catering services. The cost of hot meals for primary schools should not exceed the cost for students in grades 5-11.
The government noted that all processes must meet legal requirements for the safety and quality of products.
The subsidy is one of the steps in the school nutrition reform, the statement says.
Let us recall that in September the Ministry of Education reported that from 2025 it plans to introduce a three-year specialized secondary education for schoolchildren after the ninth grade. Thus, the duration of schooling will increase by a year.
Students will be given a choice: to go to study at an academic lyceum or a vocational college – in accordance with their interests and abilities.
