A truck carrying contraband tobacco was stopped for a routine inspection near the German border.
In Poland, during the inspection of a truck, employees of the Lower Silesian Tax Administration seized more than 13 tons of tobacco without excise stamps at a total cost of 9 million zlotys (about $2.2 million). This was reported by RMF24.
It was noted that a truck carrying tobacco contraband was stopped for a routine check near the German border.
According to law enforcement officials, the release of such a quantity of tobacco products on the market will mean losses for the state budget in the amount of 9 million zlotys.
As noted by the press secretary of the National Treasury Administration in Wroclaw, Agnieszka Rzeznicka-Gniadek, the driver did not have documents confirming the origin of the goods. The transport document he presented to law enforcement indicated that the goods were intended for Lithuania.
The driver is responsible.
We remind you that in Poland’s Podlaskie Voivodeship, customs officers intercepted a large shipment of smuggled cigarettes from Russia, which a Belarusian tried to import from Lithuania under the guise of eggs.
It was also reported that the Transcarpathian customs inspectors prevented several attempts to illegally export tobacco products by rail to the European Union.
