A Russian agent was detained in a border detachment in Volyn.
He turned out to be a serviceman of the State National Security Service recruited by the Russian special services, the SBU reported.
According to operational data, Russian intelligence tried to obtain information about the 6th Volyn border detachment. To obtain intelligence, the enemy used a border guard soldier he had recruited. The agent turned out to be a 40-year-old native of the Lugansk region, who, since 2023, has been serving as the head of one of the departments of the Volyn border detachment.
The traitor was given the task of collecting information about the border service departments guarding the border. According to the assigned task, the agent collected information about the personnel of the border service department, their telephone numbers, call signs, weapons, vehicles and other means and forces of border protection.
To transmit the collected information, the traitor used an established communication channel.
During a search in the apartment and workplace of the detainee, a mobile phone and a computer were confiscated, which he used in intelligence and subversive activities in favor of Russia.
Investigators from the Volyn department of the SBU informed the traitor of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (providing assistance to a foreign state and its representatives in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine, committed under martial law).
The attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
