John Amos, an American actor who played roles in the films Die Hard 2 and Coming to America, as well as the television series Good Times, has died. The Hollywood Reporter magazine reported this on Tuesday, October 1, citing the statement of the actor’s son KC Amos.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I must announce that my father has passed away. He lived a wonderful life. His legacy will live on through his outstanding work in television and film,” he said in a statement.
According to his son, the actor died on August 21 in Los Angeles of natural causes. However, the death announcement appeared only on October 1. John Amos was 84 years old.
John Allen Amos was born on December 27, 1939. He starred in nearly 60 films. His big screen career began in Melvin Van Peebles’ Blaxploitation in 1971, where he played a restaurant manager. The actor gained the greatest fame after participating in the CBS television series Good Time.
