Norway has changed its policy on providing protection to Ukrainian refugees.
Since September 27, the automatic receipt of protection for Ukrainian refugees from six regions of Ukraine: Lviv, Volyn, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Rivne has been cancelled. This is stated on the Norwegian government website.
The Foreigners Directorate (UDI) reportedly considers the above areas to be safe. Therefore, people entering the country from there will undergo an individual assessment of their protection needs and may be refused asylum.
These changes are necessary for the control and consistency of migration processes, as well as for the further possibility of uniformly helping Ukrainians.
They do not apply to our people who have already received temporary protection in Norway and their close relatives, as well as to persons who are offered medical evacuation to Norway (Medevac service patients), and, accordingly, their accompanying relatives.
