Inhaling carbon monoxide, even at low concentrations over a long period of time, can have serious health consequences.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, four people were poisoned by carbon monoxide. The State Emergency Service of the Ivano-Frankivsk region reported this on Sunday, September 29.

It is indicated that the emergency message was received by rescuers at 17.15.

“Rescuers received a message from doctors that four people were probably poisoned by carbon monoxide in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk,” the message said.

The victims include two boys born in 2015 and 2018, a girl born in 2008, and a mother born in 1988.

The woman and children were hospitalized.

Carbon monoxide is formed as a result of combustion in conditions of lack of oxygen. If there is no normal access to fresh air in the room, poor ventilation or faulty equipment, carbon monoxide can accumulate here.
Common symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure include headache, nausea, rapid breathing, weakness, feeling tired, dizziness and confusion. Hypoxia (severe lack of oxygen) resulting from acute carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to permanent brain or heart damage.

Earlier in Lviv, two cafe employees were hospitalized as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator.

In the Kharkov region, two people died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

And in the Chernihiv region, a family died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning – parents and a child.
